A Registered Drama Therapist is certified in the practice of drama therapy, and follows the Health Professional Council of South Africa (HPCSA) code of practice (the same body which governs doctors and psychologists). The stipulated criteria for qualification is a Master's Degree in Drama Therapy, a supervised internship from Masters Year and after, plus a supervision course throughout post-Master's internship.

Drama Therapy can be used in multiple settings including (but not limited to) Clinical settings, such as clinics, hospitals, recovery centres, addiction rehabilitation centres, schools, therapy centres workplaces etc. It can also be used in Group Programmes. Companies and schools often employ drama therapists to run workshops for team building, therapeutic / mental health related programmes, educational / themed exercises and so on.

Drama Therapy is not only for children or dramatically inclined people. There is technically no age limit - age depends entirely on the therapists' chosen scope. Therapists assess each individual and treat based on the client's personality, character, preferences, needs and abilities. At CDT, Bianca treats individuals from 5 years and up.
